James Dean, born February 8, 1931 in Marion, Indiana, died September 30, 1955 near Cholame in California. Today he is an icon in popular history and is known for his role as Jim Stark in Young Rebel. It is the second film that James Dean starred in. The film was directed by Nicholas Ray and opened in cinemas in October 1955, a month after James Dean had been killed in a car crash. Because of his brilliant performances in three films in particular, his very special persona and charismatic appeal - and of course his early death - James Dean has become a legend. His person was frozen in time and has remained eternally young with rebellious sides that never had a chance to fade away.
